Tony Elumelu’s Transcorp, Achieves Significant Milestone With A Revenue of $160 Million in 2023.

Transnational Corporation of Nigeria Plc (Transcorp), a diversified conglomerate led by Nigerian entrepreneur Tony Elumelu, has reported a robust financial performance for its fiscal year 2023, witnessing an impressive 44 percent increase in revenue to surpass $160 million.
According to recently disclosed unaudited financial statements, Transcorp’s revenue surged from N134.72 billion ($112.8 million) in 2022 to N193.97 billion ($162.4 million) by the end of the 2023 fiscal year. This notable growth was primarily driven by a substantial increase in revenue from the conglomerate’s power unit, reaching N151.27 billion ($126.64 million), and a significant rise in revenue from its hospitality business, which climbed to N42.7 billion ($35.75 million).
Transcorp’s diversified investments in the hospitality, power, oil, and gas sectors played a crucial role in this surge, with the power unit and hospitality business making substantial contributions to the overall revenue boost.
Tony Elumelu, holding a commanding 29.5 percent stake in Transcorp through his investment firm HH Capital, has been influential in the conglomerate’s success, leveraging his roles in Heirs Holdings, United Bank for Africa, and the Tony Elumelu Foundation.
This outstanding financial performance translated into considerable gains across various financial indicators. The operating profit increased from N46.7 billion ($39.1 million) in 2022 to N80.15 billion ($67.1 million) in 2023, and the profit for the year rose from N16.84 billion ($14.1 million) to N34.09 billion ($28.54 million).
Transcorp’s financial resilience is evident in the substantial surge in retained earnings, increasing from N54.58 billion ($45.7 million) as of December 31, 2022, to N66.52 billion ($55.7 million) by December 31, 2023.
The conglomerate’s assets witnessed an impressive growth from N442.7 billion ($370.4 million) to N523.2 billion ($437.7 million), and shareholders’ equity also experienced substantial growth, rising from N154.77 billion ($129.6 million) to N191.7 billion ($160.5 million) during the review period.
