OPSN Chairman Calls for United Private Sector to Drive Economic Growth

The Chairman of the Organised Private Sector of Nigeria (OPSN), Dele Oye, has called for a more unified and inclusive private sector to advance sustainable economic growth, stressing the need for collaboration among industry stakeholders.

In a statement following his appointment, Oye—who also serves as the National President of the Nigeria Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (NACCIMA)—emphasised the importance of strengthening national economic advocacy through collective engagement.

“I am deeply honoured by the trust placed in me by OPSN members. This role is both a privilege and a profound responsibility,” Oye said.

A Pledge for Inclusivity and Transparency

He underscored his commitment to fostering transparency and inclusivity, ensuring that all members of the private sector are heard and actively represented in decision-making processes.

“My priority is to create an environment where everyone’s voice is not only acknowledged but also meaningfully considered,” he stated.

To achieve this, Oye proposed balanced representation in OPSN boards and government agency engagements, vowing to champion a private sector where diversity is valued and every member feels equally represented.

“We will work collectively to address the challenges facing our sector, while leveraging the unique strengths and perspectives within our diverse membership,” he added.

A Strategic Roadmap for Private Sector Advocacy

As part of his vision, Oye announced plans for a stakeholders’ meeting to set a two-year agenda for the OPSN. He proposed a virtual session to strategise on policy direction, sectoral challenges, and advocacy priorities for the organisation.

“I suggest we schedule a Zoom meeting next week to articulate our objectives for the next two years,” he said, inviting broad participation from OPSN members.

Oye also assured members that no major decisions would be made without collective deliberation, reinforcing his commitment to participatory leadership.

“This approach will not only enhance the quality of our decision-making but will also solidify OPSN as a unified voice for private sector advocacy,” he affirmed.

Commitment to Sustainable Economic Development

Looking ahead, Oye pledged to work collaboratively with all stakeholders to drive economic growth and sustainable development, expressing optimism about the opportunities ahead.

“I am excited about the path before us and eager to work with all members of OPSN to achieve our shared economic goals,” he concluded.

His remarks signal a renewed focus on strengthening Nigeria’s private sector influence, ensuring that businesses play a central role in shaping the country’s economic future.
