Aliko Dangote Immortalizes Herbert Wigwe by Naming The Road Leading to His Refinery After The Late Access Bank CEO
Aliko Dangote, Nigerian billionaire and founder of Dangote Group, has named the road leading to his oil refinery after Herbert Wigwe, as a way to immortalise the late businessman.
Dangote revealed this while paying homage to Wigwe during a tribute by professionals on Monday.
In his speech, he said,
“Herbert was a visionary, role model, and perfectionist who gave much of himself. He is no longer here with us, but his transformative strides are seen throughout our economic landscape and social milieu. I am proud to name him my devoted friend, mentee and brother.
“Finding another Herbert is difficult; I owe him an eternal gratitude. Although he never joined the military line, he can be considered a soldier of courage and distinction. To immortalise my beloved friend, my brother, and my mentee, I have actually decided to name a major refinery and petrochemical road, out of the 120 kilometers, the biggest road will now be named ‘Herbert Wigwe”.
Recall that Wigwe, alongside his wife, son, and Abimbola Ogunbanjo, the former group chairman of the Nigerian Exchange Group Plc (NGX Group), were involved in a helicopter crash in the United States on February 10, 2024.
All six passengers onboard the Eurocopter EC130 helicopter died. The Eurocopter EC130 helicopter conveying them crashed around 10 pm on Friday in California — 7 am on Saturday in Nigeria — near the Nevada border.
