UK Minister For Business And Trade Kemi Badenoch, Visits Nigeria to Boost The UK-Nigeria Trade Relationship
Kemi Badenoch, the UK Minister for Business and Trade, embarked on a three-day visit to Nigeria to bolster the trade relationship between the UK and Nigeria and to facilitate new investment opportunities. Her visit builds upon previous efforts by both countries to strengthen ties, including recent security and defense talks.
During her visit, Badenoch, accompanied by Helen Grant, the Prime Minister’s Trade Envoy to Nigeria, will engage with Federal Government officials, state governors, British and Nigerian business leaders, and investors. The discussions will cover various sectors, including education, infrastructure, and energy projects, with the aim of generating employment opportunities. Badenoch aims to enhance the UK-Nigeria partnership, address trade barriers, foster business growth, and promote the City of London’s role in facilitating international business, particularly for Nigeria.
British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Dr. Richard Montgomery, emphasized Nigeria’s significance as one of the UK’s key partners in Africa, highlighting the importance of strengthening bilateral relations for mutual benefit.
“We are committed to helping Nigeria unlock new investment opportunities, supporting more UK and international investment through the City of London, and thereby creating jobs in both our countries.
“Recent big and bold reforms by the Federal Government of Nigeria and the Central Bank are boosting optimism amongst international investors that the country is on the right path and are creating the conditions for growth,” he said.
